Date Night

I love date night!
No, I mean I REALLY  love date night!!!

Now don't get me wrong.  I love being a mom.
But it's nice to be able to step away and not have to think about the kids for a while.
Getting to just be a couple again, even if it's only for one meal, is WONDERFUL!

And I love an excuse to dress up a little and actually put on some make-up on the weekend.
What a concept, right?!

So this last weekend we went out to Maggiano's for dinner.
I convinced Marcus to sit next to me in the booth instead of across (yes, I am that girl).
We ordered a bottle of wine and started talking.
Our waitress came back and poured us each a glass, and I thought, "What a great time for a picture".
So if fished my phone out of my purse, snuggled up close to Marcus, and stretched my arm out in front of me so that I could squeeze us both into the shot.

And then it happened.
My graceful nature (or lack thereof) took over and guided my hand straight into my full glass of red wine.

It was like it happened in slow motion.
I saw the glass start to tip, and then teeter on the edge, before it tipped all the way over and fell onto the table.

I was mortified!
I wanted to stand up in the middle of the restaurant and scream "No really! I hadn't even had a drink yet!"
Because, let's be honest, when you see a woman out on a date with her husband and she spills her wine, the natural assumption is that she is over-enjoying her adult time away from the kids.

After we got it all cleaned up, I finally convinced Marcus to try to take our picture again.
This time we moved all spillable and breakable objects to his side of the table, mostly because we both don't trust me.

After we finished dinner we decided to get dessert.
We kept seeing this amazing chocolate cake coming out of the kitchen and I wanted some.
Now.

So when our waitress dropped off the dessert menu and said, "But don't get your heart set on our triple chocolate cake because we just sold out" I think probably looked like someone had told me my dog was hit by a car.

Seriously?! Who runs out of chocolate cake by 9:30 on a Saturday night?!

So we finished our wine (that wasn't on the tablecloth) and headed to Cheesecake Factory.

And let's be honest, Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake beats the hell out of chocolate cake any day.
